KEEPING THE LIGHTS ON WHILE UNLEASHING UKRAINE'S CLIMATE AND SECURITY POTENTIAL - Russia’s attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure have created another battlefield in the energy war. Ukraine and its partners must act swiftly to repair the damage and fortify Ukraine to prevail through a threatening winter. At the same time, work must begin immediately to secure the Ukrainian energy system against malign foreign influence and other threats in the long term. In parallel, the public and private sectors must develop mechanisms for tapping into the country’s significant clean energy export potential, which could advance immeasurably Europe’s overall decarbonization and energy security ambitions.
What tangible steps can Ukraine and its partners take to transform the country’s energy system now and for the future?
