360/OPEN SUMMIT: THE WORLD IN MOTION - A YEAR OF GLOBAL PROTESTS: DOCUMENTING THE FIGHT FOR DEMOCRACY - Political protests make visible the fight for democracy—from Minsk to Minneapolis, from the Arab Spring to Black Lives Matter—as participants of social movements utilize mobile phones and social media to amplify their calls for justice. DFRLab experts will discuss the dynamics of networked protest and share their research on the role social media plays in emboldening mass democratic movements, and on those those trying to undermine or attack them.
