ANALYZING THE PENTAGON’S 2023 CHINA MILITARY POWER REPORT - The Atlantic Council’s Global China Hub and the Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security are pleased to be hosting a conversation with the Department of Defense’s Assistant Secretary of Defense for Indo-Pacific Security Affairs, Ely Ratner, and Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for China, Taiwan and Mongolia, Michael Chase, on the Pentagon’s 2023 China Military Power Report (CMPR). This hybrid event will take place on Monday, October 23, at 3:30pm ET at the Atlantic Council and virtually.

The CMPR focuses on key military and security developments in China and challenges facing the US military. The report is released at a time of growing concern globally about China’s military buildup and continued development of emerging technologies and advancements in its nuclear, space, and cyber capabilities. Despite US support and attention on the war in Ukraine and now, the Middle East, China remains the United States’ preeminent pacing challenge.
