FREEDOM, PROSPERITY AND SENEGAL’S ELECTION - After a period of uncertainty, Bassirou Diomaye Faye has won the election in Senegal, and April 2 marks the day of his inauguration. As his term commences, Rutendo Mudzamiri, Director of Development with the Atlantic Council Freedom and Prosperity Center, discusses Senegal's performance in the Freedom and Prosperity Indexes, examining the indicators and data affected by the events surrounding the election.
Mudzamiri looks at overall freedom, elections, and judicial independence and effectiveness, comparing Senegal to the regional and global averages and measuring its progress towards achieving the scores of the world's freest countries.
