WE WIN, THEY LOSE: REPUBLICAN FOREIGN POLICY AND THE NEW COLD WAR - In 1977, then presidential candidate Ronald Reagan was discussing foreign affairs when he said, “My idea of American policy toward the Soviet Union is simple, and some would say simplistic. It is this: We win, and they lose.” Just four decades later, the United States and its allies and partners face a new strategic competitor, the People’s Republic of China, but Washington has thus far failed to define a clear strategy for China.
In a new book, "We Win, They Lose: Republican Foreign Policy and the New Cold War," authors Matthew Kroenig, Vice President and Senior Director of the Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security, and Dan Negrea, Senior Director of the Freedom and Prosperity Center, propose a straightforward goal for the struggle with China—we win, and they lose—and provide a comprehensive strategy for tackling the major foreign policy issues facing the United States.
Please join the Atlantic Council’s Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security and Freedom and Prosperity Center on Wednesday for the book launch. The event features a discussion with the authors, moderated by former US State Department spokesperson Morgan Ortagus, on a strategy that will lead the United States to greater levels of peace, prosperity, and freedom.
