The future of transatlantic security is increasingly uncertain. Concerns about the future of US leadership in Euro-Atlantic security, together with the implications of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, have prompted action from European allies to find ways to enhance their security. Like many European allies, the new Belgian government has taken strides to increase defense spending and develop military capabilities.

Against this backdrop, Belgium’s Minister of Defense and Foreign Trade Theo Francken joins the Atlantic Council to discuss the future of transatlantic relations and the current state of European defense.
