CLIMATE FINANCE FOR INDIA: REEMA NANAVATY ON THE EXTREME HEAT INCOME INSURANCE - Arsht-Rock’s Director Kathy Baughman McLeod and the Self-Employed Women's Association (SEWA)’s Director Reema Nanavaty discuss the newly launched Extreme Heat Income Insurance.
Designed to cover the worst of the expected losses due to extreme heat, the microinsurance protects 21,000 women in India’s informal sector. The Extreme Heat Income Insurance is one of the first insurance plans for climate-driven extreme heat and will make working conditions safer for thousands of women.
Baughman McLeod and Nanavaty were joined by Sakhi Aahir, one of SEWA’s members and a beneficiary of the Extreme Heat Income Insurance.
