PRODUCTION DIPLOMACY FOR INDO-PACIFIC DETERRENCE, READINESS, AND RESILIENCE - The Indo-Pacific Security Initiative (IPSI) of the Atlantic Council’s Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security hosted a discussion on production diplomacy for Indo-Pacific deterrence, readiness, and resilience.
While “production diplomacy” is a new term, it is not a new concept. It is an approach that integrates the defense industrial bases (DIBs) of allies and partners. This discussion focuses on how production diplomacy can enable the protection of supply chains, strengthening of alliances and partnerships, deterrence enhancement, and building of defense readiness. It also covers the risks and growing challenges of an evolving geostrategic environment allies and partners must face when facing multiple adversaries simultaneously. The event concluded with key recommendations for the United States and its Indo-Pacific allies and partners as they seek to rapidly developing and implementing new production diplomacy initiatives.
