OUR OCEANS' FUTURE: SUSTAINING THE WORLD’S MOST IMPORTANT RESOURCE - The world’s oceans are home to up to one million species, serve as a primary food source for over three billion people, and drive global commerce, energy, and recreation. Any threat—climate change, pollution, overfishing—and any opportunity requires cooperation among governments. Productive relationships among coastal nations are necessary to protect the ocean ecosystem and the societies that depend on it. This panel will focus on how effective ocean diplomacy can safeguard our biosphere, enable the blue economy, and enrich scientific discovery to secure a prosperous, sustainable, and peaceful future.
