REPORTERS AT RISK: THE STATE OF PRESS FREEDOM IN IRAQ - Join the Atlantic Council’s Adrienne Arsht National Security Resilience Initiative in the Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security and the Iraq Initiative in the Middle East Programs for a “Reporters at risk” event on the challenges correspondents face in Iraq.

Journalists in Iraq operate in one of the world’s most difficult media environments, facing pressure from armed groups, state-backed actors, and state and local authorities in federal Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. Independent reporters have been subjected to intimidation, arbitrary detention, violence, and assassination.

This event will feature correspondents assessing the risks reporters face in Iraq and what can be done to protect its free press.
