A CONVERSATION WITH PRIME MINISTER OF THE REPUBLIC OF KOSOVO ALBIN KURTI - The Atlantic Council’s Europe Center hosted a conversation with Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo Albin Kurti.
At a time of unprecedented turmoil, questions about EU enlargement are once again dominating discussion in European capitals. Ukraine’s plight has shown how existing approaches to integration have left the continent dangerously exposed to a revisionist Russia. Focus is turning to the countries of the Western Balkans, which have been in enlargement limbo for decades. What can be done to secure the region’s European future, and bring peace, stability, and economic prosperity to what has been called “the soft underbelly of Europe”?
Prime Minister Albin Kurti joined the Council to discuss his country’s situation, the fight against corruption, the state of the dialogue with Serbia, and his ideas for how the EU can accelerate its vision for building a continent whole, free, and at peace with itself.
This discussion is part of the Europe Center’s #BalkansForward Initiative, a coordinated effort to foster a democratic, secure, and prosperous Western Balkans firmly integrated into the Euro-Atlantic community.
The Europe Center presented this live event as part of the Atlantic Council’s #ACFrontPage event series, our premier ideas platform spotlighting global leaders and championing constructive solutions to global challenges. From publishing timely commentary and analysis across the continent to providing a transatlantic platform for European leaders driving the crisis response, the Europe Center is combining foreign policy, economic, and business expertise to address challenges to freedom and democracy.
