Rayhan Asat, Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council, spoke about the international response to atrocities committed against the Uyghurs in China, during a panel co-hosted by Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.

"China has robbed us of days, months, and years of being with our loved ones through mass detention, imprisonment, lengthy sentences, and separation," she said. "The magnitude of pain and trauma China has inflicted upon families like mine, upon the Uyghur community as a whole, is immeasurable and guaranteed to reverberate for generations to come," she added.
