FOREIGN MINISTER TIMČO MUCUNSKI ON NORTH MACEDONIA’S TRANSATLANTIC PRIORITIES - Join the Atlantic Council’s Europe Center for a discussion with Timčo Mucunski, minister of foreign affairs and foreign trade of the Republic of North Macedonia.
North Macedonia’s foreign policy in 2026 is defined by deepening strategic and economic ties with the United States, highlighting its productive role as a security partner in the Western Balkans, and pushing—still with difficulty—toward European Union (EU) membership amid a challenging reform agenda and unresolved bilateral disputes. Following negotiations for a new bilateral trade agreement with Washington in February 2026 and hosting NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in March, this conversation as part of the Europe Center’s Balkans Forward Initiative will explore North Macedonia’s strategic partnership with the United States and priorities for EU enlargement and regional relations in the Western Balkans.
