A CONVERSATION WITH UN HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL PRESIDENT AMB. FEDERICO VILLEGAS - The recent escalation of human rights crises in Ukraine, Iran, and China, and broader global threats such as climate change, have required the international community to reassess the development of international human rights law and norms in response to such world-shaping events. These developments have also rendered the role of the United Nations Human Rights Council in investigating and addressing violations of human rights as crucial as ever. To offer insight into what the UN Human Rights Council can do to encourage respect for human rights, Amb. Federico Villegas discussed the capacities of the Council and the path forward.
