US Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV), Chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, spoke to the Atlantic Council about the role of the hydrogen sector in boosting US industrial competitiveness and global leadership. He discussed how Russia's war in Ukraine has alerted the US to the danger of energy dependency.
"Many wars have been fought over energy. And here we are in the 21st century, a land war in Europe, and Putin has weaponized it. If he's weaponized energy, our guarantee is Xi Jinping can weaponize all of the things, the building blocks that they're making...they have control over a supply chain that could cripple us," he said.
He spoke at an #ACFrontPage event moderated by Fred Kempe, President and CEO of the Atlantic Council, and hosted by the Atlantic Council's Global Energy Center.
