One year after the death of Mahsa Jina Amini, prompting protests across Iran, US Under Secretary for Civilian Security, Democracy and Human Rights Uzra Zeya spoke to the Atlantic Council about how the international community can effectively hold human rights violators accountable.
"US commitment is steadfast, and we remain vigilant and ready to hold human rights violators accountable," she said. "Today, in coordination with our allies, we are announcing 29 additional sanctions designations against Iranian officials and entities connected to serious human rights abuses against ordinary Iranian citizens."
