NORTH AMERICA’S MOMENT: THE CASE FOR NORTH AMERICAN ENERGY COOPERATION - Please join the Atlantic Council’s Global Energy Center for a discussion on the potential for a comprehensive strategy for energy collaboration in North America. Speakers explore the importance of energy in the North American trilateral relationship and the advantages of developing a coordinated approach to energy and climate security. Speakers also examine the impact of North American elections on the trilateral energy relationship in the leadup to a comprehensive review of the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).
Intensifying geopolitical conflict and energy security concerns are reshaping the approach to international partnerships as we continue to grapple with instability in global trade and energy markets. To navigate these shifts, expanding on the already established foundation of North American economic partnership will be critical. This discussion will consider the benefits of a trilateral energy strategy to North American energy security, sustainability, and economic competitiveness, the implications of major elections on an energy partnership, and the necessary steps that new leadership must take to achieve strategic alignment.
