STRENGTHENING THE MIDDLEGROUND OF THE DEFENSE-INDUSTRIAL LANDSCAPE - The Pentagon’s National Defense Industrial Strategy (NDIS) expresses the imperative of “strengthening and modernizing our defense industrial base ecosystem” and sets priorities for meeting those challenges. In ecology, middleground is the land which buffers and intermediates the needs of pristine nature and human-dominated spaces. So too, in a healthy defense-industrial ecosystem, do companies occupying the middleground between ubiquitous small companies and preponderant big ones play important, salutary roles.

The captains of industry assembled for this event discuss issues that face these middleground companies, and how public policies and corporate strategies can address them.
