GOLAZO: THE WORLD CUP’S ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY FOR NORTH AMERICA - Join the Atlantic Council’s Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center for a livestreamed conversation from Mexico City—just two weeks before the World Cup’s opening whistle at Estadio Banorte—on how the tournament can help advance a more competitive North America.
This summer’s FIFA World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada offers a chance to show what deeper regional coordination can deliver. This event will break down the playbook for how the world’s biggest sporting stage can create new openings for trade, investment, infrastructure, tourism, and regional coordination, especially in the midst of the review process for the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).
This event is part of a new Atlantic Council initiative on the power of sports, which explores how sports can advance international diplomacy and development against the backdrop of major US-hosted events, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the 2028 Summer Olympics, and the 2034 Winter Olympics.
