EUROPEAN CENTRAL BANK PRESIDENT CHRISTINE LAGARDE ON EUROPE’S ECONOMIC OUTLOOK - On Wednesday, October 23, at 10:00 a.m. ET, the Atlantic Council will host a virtual #ACFrontPage event featuring Christine Lagarde, president of the European Central Bank (ECB). Lagarde will offer insights into the ECB’s recent moves to tackle inflation and support economic growth across the euro area. This event takes place during IMF-World Bank Week at the Atlantic Council.
This discussion comes at a pivotal moment, following the ECB’s decision to cut interest rates for a second time this year and the Federal Reserve’s recent decision to begin cutting interest rates in the United States. Lagarde will address how the ECB is managing inflation while navigating structural challenges, including geopolitical conflict, energy instability, and rising public debt.
