The event will launch the Digital Agenda for Transformation in the Americas (DATA) for Cities Initiative, a new US development program aimed at empowering municipal governments in the region through grants for the strengthening and development of smart cities capabilities throughout LAC.
LAC is among the most urbanized regions globally, with cities facing complex infrastructure demands, inequality, digital exclusion, and limited access to water, education, healthcare, and transportation, among others. “Smart city” technology—including various digital tools and data—can help address these needs, providing integrated services and support community goals.
This discussion will explore how can cities leverage cutting-edge technology to promote equitable access to basic services and the role that digital transformation can play in ensuring sustainable development.
This event is part of a series of events focusing on the thirtieth anniversary of the Summit of the Americas. The series is jointly organized with the United States Department of State.
