VOICES OF CHANGE: A CONVERSATION WITH MARIA CORINA MACHADO - Maria Corina Machado is a Venezuelan opposition politician and presidential candidate who will represent her party, Vente Venezuela, in Venezuela’s opposition primary elections on October 22.
Maria Corina’s leadership and widespread support gained her a seat in the National Assembly after receiving the most votes among all candidates during the 2010 parliamentary elections. Today, she is known for her unique voice in Venezuela’s traditionally male-dominated political landscape.
What are Machado’s policy proposals to address Venezuela’s economic and political reality? What is needed from the international community in order to see a free and fair electoral process in 2024? Why is the opposition choosing to participate in elections despite Venezuela’s authoritarian reality? We will discuss these questions and more.
Join the Atlantic Council’s Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center for a virtual public conversation with Maria Corina Machado, to hear directly from her as she shares her priorities and vision for Venezuela in the years ahead.
This conversation is part of the Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center’s series “Visions of Change: Conversations with Venezuelan Opposition Presidential Candidates.” The event series focuses on Venezuela’s upcoming opposition primary elections and will allow leading candidates to share their visions for the country, should they be elected in 2024.
