“The public may eventually learn a conclusive answer as to whether or not Iran helped plan the terrorist attack... But the world already knows what matters most: Iran shares responsibility for it,” Jonathan Panikoff, director of the Scowcroft Middle East Security Initiative in the Middle East Programs, writes for The New Atlanticist.
While the extent of Iran’s role has been disputed in various media accounts of the attack, Iran has indisputably provided funding, training and weapons to Hamas for years, and the country’s leader, Ayatollah Khamenei has applauded the attacked and threatened retaliation if Israel launches an invasion of Gaza.
