NEXT STEPS FOR THE TTC: A CONVERSATION WITH UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE JOSE W. FERNANDEZ - Over the past year the US-EU Trade and Technology Council (TTC) has emerged as one of the most important institutions for transatlantic economic coordination. Aspiring to align US and European policy across a range of key issues such as data governance, technology controls, and supply chain security, the TTC has already resulted in important outcomes around information sharing, international standard setting, and preventing supply chain disruptions. Following the conclusion of the December 6th TTC Ministerial, Under Secretary Fernandez joined the Atlantic Council to reflect on the TTC’s progress throughout 2022 and what he believes should be the priorities of the US-EU economic relationship in 2023.
Jose W. Fernandez, Under Secretary for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment for the US Department of State, joined Charles Lichfield, Deputy Director of the Atlantic Council’s GeoEconomics Center, for a discussion on the status of the US-EU economic relationship. Under Secretary Fernandez opened the event with remarks on the status and next steps for the TTC.
