BRAZIL'S ECONOMIC OUTLOOK: A CONVERSATION WITH H.E. PAULO GUEDES, BRAZIL’S MINISTER OF THE ECONOMY - Brazil’s Minister of the Economy, Paulo Guedes, took office in 2019 with a focus on further opening Brazil’s economy and carrying out a series of reforms to reduce the size of the government and ease doing business. The COVID-19 pandemic added an extra layer of complexity to Brazil’s economic outlook.
The socioeconomic implications of COVID-19 – and the role of international financial institutions in pandemic economic recovery was a key topic for Minister Guedes while in Washington DC for the World Bank Group and IMF annual meetings.
How is Brazil working to address the socioeconomic consequences of COVID-19 and prepare its economy for the future? What are the steps ahead for key privatizations and structural reforms long seen as critical to Brazil’s economic health? How can Brazil and the United States continue to strengthen economic ties?
The Atlantic Council’s Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center and GeoEconomics Center hosted on October 13, 2021, a public discussion, from our studios in Washington DC, with H.E. Paulo Guedes, Brazil’s Minister of Economy, on Brazil’s economic outlook amid COVID-19 and beyond.
