VISIONS OF CHANGE: A CONVERSATION WITH HENRIQUE CAPRILES - Henrique Capriles is a lawyer, politician, and two-time presidential candidate who will represent his party, Primero Justicia, in Venezuela’s opposition primary elections on October 22. Capriles’ experience as a public official includes serving as Mayor of Baruta and Governor of Miranda, as well as the youngest president of the Chamber of Deputies in Venezuela’s previous bicameral legislature.
What are Capriles’ policy proposals to address Venezuela’s political and economic reality? What is needed from the international community in order to see a free and fair electoral process in 2024? Why is the opposition choosing to participate in elections despite Venezuela’s authoritarian reality?
The Atlantic Council’s Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center held a conversation with Henrique Capriles on Tuesday, May 30 from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. ET via Zoom, YouTube, and Twitter, to hear directly from Capriles as he shares his priorities and vision for Venezuela in the years ahead.
This conversation is part of the Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center’s series “Visions of Change: Conversations with Venezuelan Opposition Presidential Candidates.” The event series focuses on Venezuela’s upcoming opposition primary elections and will allow leading candidates to share their visions for the country, should they be elected in 2024.
