Experts read between the lines of the US Space Force’s warfighting framework
On Wednesday, August 13 at 10:00 a.m. ET, the Atlantic Council’s Forward Defense initiative, within the Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security, will host a conversation examining the US Space Force’s recently released Space Warfighting framework.
The US military has described space as a warfighting domain, and the US Space Force has sought to evolve its approach to securing and sustaining space superiority. In conversation with Clementine Starling-Daniels, director of Forward Defense, experts will provide outside perspectives on the new framework, which provides operational planning considerations for conflict and combat in the space domain.
The discussion will explore how the framework guides the US Space Force in both peacetime competition and conflict, balances offensive and defensive operations, and integrates cutting-edge technologies with human decision-making. The experts will also examine how the United States and its allies can responsibly project power in space while leveraging the commercial sector to ensure enduring advantage, credible deterrence, and integrated multidomain operations.
