NINTH ANNUAL CENTRAL AND EASTERN EUROPEAN ENERGY SECURITY CONFERENCE - The Central and Eastern European Energy Security Conference is the Atlantic Council Global Energy Center’s flagship regional event in Washington, DC. This annual event brings together key decision-makers in the US administration, members of Congress, industry leaders, ministers of the Central and Eastern European regions, the Delegation of the European Union, and experts from the think tank community to discuss the geopolitics of climate and energy security cooperation.
With Europe’s political landscape changing rapidly and global geopolitical tensions intensifying, it remains extraordinarily important to underscore and strengthen key areas of transatlantic cooperation. Notably, the recent European Parliament elections and the upcoming US presidential elections could transform how the transatlantic alliance approaches energy and climate cooperation. Moreover, the transatlantic partnership will remain tested by Russia’s aggression in Ukraine. As Kyiv mounts its third year of resistance, the Central and Eastern European Energy Security Conference remains a significant touchpoint for reaffirming and refining strategies that buttress European energy security. To achieve this, the allies will need to coordinate closely on decarbonization, supply security, competitiveness, and digitalization.
To forge a strategic path forward on these issues, the 9th annual Central and Eastern European Energy Security Conference will feature sessions on transatlantic trade, energy, and climate policy following an election year; industrial competitiveness; nuclear deployment; recovery of Ukraine’s energy sector; and supply security risks mitigation.
