In an era of conflict, international relationships are being tested, and as NATO prepares for its 75th annual summit in Washington in a heated election year, some are questioning the alliance's relevance to US security.
Richard D. Hooker Jr., a Nonresident Senior Fellow with the Atlantic Council’s Center for Strategy and Security, writes that, “The 2024 US presidential election will be, among other things, a referendum on the United States’ continued role in NATO,” arguing “NATO matters to the United States because Europe does.”
