The event focused on Malawi’s democratic progress in a country where President Lazarus Chakwera was regarded as a champion of democracy in 2020, exploring its strategy for diversifying the economy in an uncertain international context, and advancing Malawi’s new rare earth mine: the Songwe Hill Mine project. The Vice President shared his thoughts on the opportunities and challenges faced by his country and his expectations from US and multilateral partners.
