CELEBRATING CHAIRMAN BEN CARDIN’S BIPARTISAN FOREIGN POLICY ACCOMPLISHMENTS - The Atlantic Council’s Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center invites you to a celebration in recognition of retiring Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD), Chairman of the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations and his bipartisan achievements on foreign policy. This special event will celebrate his leadership as the Honorary Co-Chair of our US-Colombia Advisory Group, alongside Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN), as well as his work to advance Western Hemisphere issues.
Throughout his distinguished career, Senator Cardin has been a champion for the Americas. His achievements include authoring the Sergei Magnitsky Rule of Law Accountability Act—an act empowering the US to sanction human rights violators and corrupt officials worldwide, which later expanded into the Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act. Senator Cardin has been a prominent voice on working across the aisle on regional migration challenges and in advancing US economic partnership in the Western Hemisphere.
Since 2017, as an original Honorary Co-Chair of the then-US Colombia Task Force, Senator Cardin has worked with the Atlantic Council and his Republican Co-Chairs to advance a stronger, more resilient US-Colombia relationship given the country’s role as an historic US ally and a NATO Global Partner. Join us in celebrating Senator Cardin’s visionary leadership and his dedication to a more secure and prosperous Western Hemisphere.
