GENERAL LAURA RICHARDSON ON SECURITY IN THE WESTERN HEMISPHERE - The Atlantic Council hosted an AC Front Page conversation with General Laura J. Richardson, commander of US Southern Command, on the future of the United States’ security partnership with Latin America and the Caribbean.
Security cooperation between the United States and countries across Latin America and the Caribbean is important, not just because of geographical proximity: The Western Hemisphere, as a whole, faces challenges that are transnational in nature, including organized crime, drug trafficking, and irregular migration.
The conversation with Richardson builds on the findings of two recent Atlantic Council Strategy Papers that emphasize the imperative of countering malign forms of Chinese and Russian influence and of redefining US partnership with Latin America and the Caribbean to keep up with today’s challenges.
This edition of #ACFrontPage was hosted by the Atlantic Council’s Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center and the Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security.
