MAROŠ ŠEFČOVIČ ON US-EU COLLABORATION TOWARDS A TRANSATLANTIC GREEN MARKETPLACE - The Atlantic Council hosts an #ACFrontPage conversation featuring H.E. Maroš Šefčovič—the executive vice-president of the European Commission for the European Green Deal—on ways to boost US-EU cooperation on the green transition, including through a transatlantic green marketplace.
Pandemics, wars, and extreme climate impacts have exposed how supply-chain vulnerabilities can empower authoritarian regimes, enable market distortion, hinder decarbonization, and threaten transatlantic security. However, increased international coordination among like-minded countries can ensure supply chains withstand such challenges.
During this fireside chat, Šefčovič—who also serves as the European Commission vice-president for interinstitutional relations— also takes stock of the bilateral progress made on fostering more resilient supply chains for clean technologies and critical minerals. With the conversation following January’s EU-US Trade and Technology Council, Šefčovič will also discuss US-EU efforts to address trade tensions.
